Sunday Message — 2026.08.23, The Thirteenth Sunday After Pentecost The Holy Spirit Makes Us Holy

Sunday Message — The Thirteenth Sunday After Pentecost The Holy Spirit Makes Us Holy Subtitle: Holiness Is Not About Becoming Perfect — It Is Growing, Bit by Bit, Into a Person Who Belongs to God Text: 2 Thessalonians 2:1–14 Opening Today is the thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost, and I want to preach on this: the Holy Spirit makes us holy. Holding Keyword and Context in Balance For thirteen weeks now we've kept the Holy Spirit as our subject, working through the Spirit one keyword at a time. But looking back, I realize that in preaching around a keyword, there were times I skated past the biblical context that keyword sits in, and other times I leaned so hard into the context that I let the keyword blur. Sunday Message — 2026.08.16, Liberation Sunday, The Twelfth Sunday After Pentecost

Sunday Message — Liberation Sunday, The Twelfth Sunday After Pentecost The Fruit of the Spirit Is Not a Personality Makeover — It Is the Result of a Life Subtitle: Fruit Is Not Something I Manufacture — It Is What Grows Inside Me When I Call On That Name Text: Galatians 5:22–23 Opening Today is both Liberation Sunday and the twelfth Sunday after Pentecost, and I want to preach on this: the fruit of the Spirit is not a personality makeover — it is the result of a life. I've had a real interest in the Holy Spirit for a long time myself, and I'd always wanted to work it all the way through — and this year turned out to be the chance to do it. Last w...

Naeane Church Sunday Message — The Eleventh Sunday After Pentecost The Spirit's Leading Keeps Me From Chasing My Own Desires

Sunday Message — The Eleventh Sunday After Pentecost The Spirit's Leading Keeps Me From Chasing My Own Desires Subtitle: The Place Where I Once Followed Jesus Becomes, Today, the Place Where I Am Led by the Spirit Text: Galatians 5:16–18 Opening This is the eleventh Sunday after Pentecost, and I want to preach on this: the Spirit's leading keeps me from chasing my own desires. Since the season after Pentecost runs all the way to twenty-seven weeks this year, we are staying with the Spirit as our subject, week after week. Our church doesn't really have a Sunday-evening service or a separate slot for Bible study, so we take the Sunday gathering itself and work through the Spirit one week at a time. That means you'll want to lean in on the one hand, and on the other, keep the thread of where we've been. Today's key word is the Spirit's leading, and as always, I'll move through five questions. One. How Did I Fight the Spiritual Battle This Week?...
